School Improvement

Cognia

All schools in North Dakota participate in a Continuous Improvement Process wherein they examine the current reality in their school. They look at demographics, culture, technology, finances, and academic progress, among many other factors. Using the gathered data, they predict what may change, and what they want to change in a year, five years, 10 years in the future. Then they make a plan to get there.

TSI/CSI School Support

ND selects schools for either targeted or comprehensive support based on a variety of performance indicators. Schools selected are awarded school improvement grants to assist in addressing the performance gaps.

In cooperation with the state grant, NCEC provides assistance to TSI and CSI schools in the region.

MTSS

The NDMTSS supports schools with the MTSS process through professional development and liaison assistance.

North Dakota’s Multi-Tier System of Supports (NDMTSS) is a framework to provide all students with the best opportunities to succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally in school. NDMTSS focuses on providing high-quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals. Data are used to allocate resources to improve student learning and support staff implementation of effective practices.
