Virtual Summer Arts Program

The ND Afterschool Network, the ND Council on the Arts and NESC ConnectEd have partnered to offer a virtual summer arts program. Each lesson is led by a ND Council on the Arts teaching artist and will span two days, 30 minutes each day.

What is this SUMMER ARTS opportunity?

  • Visual arts lessons led by teaching artists from the ND Council on the Arts
  • Facilitated by the Northeast Education Services Cooperative (NESC) on Zoom
  • Taught in the grade spans of K-1, 2-3 and 4-5
  • Two-day lessons (One grade-appropriate lesson is completed over two days; 30 minutes each day)
  • 10:00 – 10:30 AM CT each day
  • One artist and opportunity each week – 3 different weeks in June


What lessons and dates are available?

  • June 2 -3  – Grades 2-3 – “Fun With Modeling Clay” —  with Ali LaRock
  • June 8 -9  – Grade K-1 – “Color Mixing, Blending & Shading with Oil Pastels” —  with Linda Roesch
  • June 22 -23  –  Grade 4-5 – “Painted Paper Creations” — with Nicole Gagner

What arts materials are required for these lessons?

  • It is the school’s/site’s responsibility to have all required art materials purchased and ready before the date of the live Zoom lesson.

What does it cost to participate in the live Zoom lessons with the artists?

This is a FREE curriculum enrichment option for your summer program thanks to a grant through the ND Council on the Arts. Materials must be purchased by each site, but can be funded through the same grant referenced above.


How do we register to participate in the Summer Arts lessons?

Registration is required for participation.

  • Complete the NESC’s registration Google Form using this link:
  • Complete one registration per participating student group, per grade span (K-1, 2-3, 4-5).
  • We request that the school administrator or program/site coordinator complete the registration(s).
  • Registrations are due to the NESC using the above Google Form link by May 7th.
